A quickie to commemorate.
On this day 43 years ago I was born at St. Paul's Hospital in Dallas, Sexless at 4:34 AM. I can only hope my poor mother forgives me for putting her through all that pain and misery... and I'm sure the actual birthing process was a bitch too...
My father came up to my office today with his wife and gave me a card the size of a VINYL LP. The cover had a stylized skull that says, "Be BAD on your birthday..." and when you open it up George Thoroughgood's "BAD TO THE BONE" starts playing...
It's amazing how well they know me...
And I've received so many nice wishes from people all over the country today... I just want to take a moment and say thank you to each and every one of you. You have made my life this year a little more complicated and immensely richer...
I have cocktails waiting so I won't draw this out, but thanks again to everyone who had a hand in making me what I am today... From Sister Joseph Marie, my first art teacher at St. Demonica Catholic Screw to my series of long-forgotten probation officers to the hot little girl who lived next door to my grandmother who used to show me her panties every chance she got... from my crazy ex's that still hate me for some reason they cooked up in their chaotic brains to my favorite bartender in Dallas who always greets me with a smile (and a hell of a rack)... from Darth Goldstein and his Media Stormtroopers to the hot jewelry designer who always smiles at me lasciviously every morning... from my gorgeous (and totally cool) production partner Melissa to my wonderfully useless rescued felines... I am eternally grateful to everyone who has every listened to, read, screamed at, flipped off, hung up on, cried over, came with, drank with, smoked with, snorted with, took my shit, shoveled it back, and let me collapse on their shoulder... Without you I would not be the pantheon of modern satire barely standing before you.
So with that in mind, thanks for the mammeries.. er, ah, MEMORIES... I love you all (some more than others) but I wouldn't be here without you.
So, here's to the future...
"One more time around the sun, my good man..."
